Does anyone know anyone that's gone to see express eventing today?

I only live less than two miles away but I can't justify the amount it's costing to get in! Also was slightly put off by the last express eventing experience but guess that's in the past now.

Hope there are reasonable spectator numbers for the young riders competing there.

No - I did think about it at one point but I've had an op so went out of mind. Haven't they changed the prize money from something like £50,000 (I'm not sure on that one) to £5000? There was a bit of a hoo har about it I think - that's the main reason they all took part last year - the prize money was so good. I doubt there'll be anyone there competing or spectating by the looks of it.

I was there yesterday Saturday. After paying £20 admission charge, there was an additional fee of I think £5 to have a seat to watch the jumping.
A bridge too far for me,on principal, so I sat on a grass bank watching the warm up and got to see most of the course too.Close up to the top horses and riders, I was pleased with my decision.
Have to say the tradestands were a very lonely place, great for me as I dislike crowds, so I shopped in peace.A brave bid by the Organisers to take on this event, with a little tweaking, I think it might come right, but the admission fee will need to be looked at.
Will be waiting to hear how the EE went.

I went today - helped mum on the stand so free enttry.
The entry was 20quid - the seats were 20quid more!!!:eek::eek:
then at 12pm when no one was sat in the stands they lowered the price to £5.

The whole show was a bit empty tbh - which was a shame - many traders were grumbling about lack of foot fall.

I dont want to get burned = so have left a lot of oppinion out of here - But from what i did manage to see of the eventing (I was busy working most of the time) - it looked great fun!

Well..... it was a very enjoyable day in the end- especially as our rider Flora Harris won the title!
IT was £20 admissions with £20 to sit in the grandstand, all too much for most people to pay, and it was pretty empty to start off with but it did fill up very very well towards the end of the day! We got in free ofcourse.

I think it was a very very enjoyable day and would be better if they did it again now that there hasnt been a disaster! Also I think that now that they know that they can get the publicity (good publicity) that more people will definately come if the entry to watch is cheaper. Which i am sure it will be!

The prize money was £50000 originally but went down to £5000 because of the economic climate and also a lack of sponsors! But Flora did also min the use of a brand new Jeep for a year- a years supply of feed and a years supply or aerowear!

I think this is a sport that can grow and be very successful in the future!
