hey all,

was just wondering if anyone knew of a horse called harvey who i sold about a year and a half to 2 years ago. he was approx 16 hh and 5 at the time. i only had him a couple of months, i bought him from york horse sales outside the ring having been told he was very cold backed.

he was stunning to look at and very very soft and affectionate and loose jumped 4 foot plus easily. we only kept him for a few weeks and i ended up starting uni which meant i didnt have the time to go about rebacking him.

would just like to know how hes getting on? cant remember the ladys name who bought him but she had something to do with nh racing as her job. any news good or bad appreciated!

he was dark bay, absolutely floating paces, he had small socks on his near side hind and his off side fore (these two hooves are black and white)

he was a real 'event' type looking throughbred, not a weedy sort.

its was approx feb 06 when we sold him in horse and hound in the 1000 and under section.

it kills me to this day i didnt have the time or help available at the time to rebreak and reschool him but uni commitments were priority at the time

i do have photos of him but no scanner which is a shame

Well I know of a Harvey of that age and decscription, cant remember but I think that he had a white star on his face.

Absolutely stunning, but a total cripple, never moved well but enjoyed jumping. Owners have a hopeless vet. Now retired out in the field as they couldnt get him sound-didnt know what was wrong- personally I thought it was issues with his hocks and back.. Was really soppy and affectionate in the stable. Really not sure if its the same horse as yours though.

just found another photo....

yes he did have a bit of a star on his face (very very small though)

the front sock was very small - almost a stripe around his hoof with his hind sock being bigger.

he was extremely soppy in the stable, a real sweety. and as i say, he jumped 4ft plus easily on the lunge and loved it.

we thought he moved beautifully on the lunge so that bit isnt quite right although his problems may well have accounted for this but i agree, he was well and truley stunning to look at and watch jumping.

we sold him to the people telling them of the problem we had been told about at the horse sales and had explained what we had done with him so far - re introducing saddle etc and lunging. he really was a lovely horse, i wish i had a way of getting these pictures up to see if it was him or not

When the owners got him he was in the most APPALLING state- RSPCA case. Think it was a very small star and very small socks. Cant remember which legs the socks were on though!
I always thought that it was odd that he was such a crap mover when he had such impeccable conformation and super limbs. Def loved his jumping despite this.
Get a friend to scan the photos!

i THINK the lady who bought him said she had worked for (either present or past) Jenny Pitman (not sure if it was her or someone else) but i know for definate she had had a job involved with racing and she brought a jockey with her to view him.

i dont think were talking about the same horse here then as he most definately wasnt in a state! we gave him time off when he came to us, fed him up and restarted him. sounds a terrible time for that one though
