Horse's, this may sound rather morbid, but I want to be prepared, and would rather he was recycled ( bad wording but dont know how else to put it)
and if so would I just phone the local hunt kennels.
Thanks

Hi,
you will find most hunts will offer this service.

Often either at your yard or at the kennels.

When my mare had to be put down I took her to my hunts kennels who dealt with the situation quickly and kindly. Seeing as she enjoyed her days out hunting as much as I did it seemed to make sense.

This way is a hell of a lot cheaper than your vet dealing with the disposal, and I saw it as a way of giving something back to the hounds that have given me great days hunting.

Never a great subject to have to talk about , but sadly it's part of owning horses.

All the best.

Thank you for your reply, I will look into local hunts nearer the time

No not a nice subject, and have never had the oppotunity to hunt this one, but I'm sure he would have loved a day out.

Some hunts don't do this any more due to so many regulations these days. It's not always the cheaper option these days depending on individual hunts. Best to phone kennels in advance and ask. We have a knackerman around here does most of it but the hunt I worked for took in the odd one but they weren't fed to hounds.
