Don't do facebook so cant catch up with her there. Just wondering if little Dolly travelled OK and how Abbie & Tessy are doing without her?
QB you haven't missed anything. TB just posted to let people know Dolly was moving that weekend, & in return got a torrent of abuse / 'advice' from people who've never even seen the horses telling her she was doing things wrong. As I pointed out on there they all say what a mature, responsible person she has been, so they should respect her choice (made with the input of professionals on the ground who were there deling with TB & D) & just wish her well, she did not ask for any 'advice'. One person (who I wont name) even thought it was fine to be rude about the poor girl & her decision as she was no longer on here to read it. It's very rare for me to get riled at threads, but that did last week, that young lady had done absolutely nothing to deserve it. Reminded me of the great british press, when you're flavour of the month you can do no wrong, but beware because they will turn & attack you unprovoked.
..apparently tessybear is staying off HHO for a while because of some of the negative posts on here regarding her decision to sell..
I'm not on facebook, but I'm able to view this. Hope it works

Hmm that's not quite true. Some people became a little overly upset that TB had weaned Dolly from her mother at 3 and a half months old.
Gawd, I really don't want to get into this again, but no she isn't getting younger and younger. Dolly was apparently born on the 24th April, TB posted on the 28th August and Dolly had allegedly already been weaned for 'about a week' prior, so Dolly was under 4 months old when she was weaned. Regardless whether she was weaned at 3 and a half months or just over 4 months, the point is some people became overly upset at weaning so young, not because TB had decided to sell her.I see shes getting younger and younger again... according to the thread she was born 24th April, making her over 4 months.. not 3 and a half....
She weaned early because mum started to show signs of harming the baby!!!!
What would you have done ?
I think she did the only thing possible

I'm with SP on this .My mare did limit the amount of time foal was allowed at the milk bar He was enormous and needed to bend his knees to suckle at about 6 weeks old .Watching mum encouraging him to graze and allowing him to share her bucket of feed at a early age so he got used to hard feed then a bucket of his own was lovely to watch.
I think no one was saying the foal isn't a big girl or that she will suffer but she will lack the lessons that mum can teach her and chill time just being a foal with mum.
It must be hard to find you have lost your 'riding' horse when you never planned to breed but foal need mums and without a good medical reason with the foal or the mare they ideally they should be together until at least 6 months old and ideally longer than that
Mum's wean foals themselves certainly mine did by the time I separated them at 10 months he had virtually stopped feeding .It was the none event of the year he was happy with one of my older geldings and even grazed in a field next to mum and the other gelding with no problem at all.
The vets and stud may have gone along with the weaning it doesn't make it ideal and at no time did I read the mare was attacking the foal just pushing him away from the milk bar as mares do.
Exactly, well said. Dolly will be fine, but will miss some lessons from Mum
Whatever. She's weaned, well, in a lovely new home with others her own age to teach each other the ropes of being a horse and the rest of her life begins as of now. Perfect, really.
