Does anyone know where i can do an AI course?

I know they do it at Twemlows but need somewhere a bit more northern?

No idea how much but would your vets not have any idea of whereabouts? You could always ask big studs in your area for recommendations.

I dont know any other venue who is Defra Approved for training. I am from North of Scotland and travelled all the way down to Twemlows to do mine.

That's what I feared.

But maybe I'll try and ask my vet perhaps could do it there (Minster Equine clinic) or at Rainbows.

To be approved as a training/testing centre, you have to present a big plan to the group that run the scheme for DEFRA... plus it costs a couple of grand to be a testing centre. Beyond that, in my opinion it seems that the existing training places have some sort of "agreement" with DEFRA so that new training centres are discouraged from running courses. I know of three separate places that have applied to run training courses, and all have been turned down. You'll probably have to stick with Twemlows, I'm afraid.

Only other place that runs the AI courses that I know of is Willesley Equine Clinic (where Twemlows send the written exam to be marked) but thats even further South!!

It cost me over a £1000 for 2 people to do the AI course at Twemlows including the accommodation etc...
