I would love to take my boy hunting, but have no idea if there are any hunts locally to me. I am in Maidstone, Kent. Does anyone know of any?

I have never been hunting before (but my horse has) and I get really scared of going to big, busy places like a hunt meet. I know the hunts are generally very friendly and if I tell them its my first time they'll look after me (this is what I've been told), but I am terrified of turning up on my own and having no idea who anyone is and no idea what to do/where to go! All my friends don't want to go hunting, so really not sure what to do!

I used to live near Maidstone (went to school there!) and I hunted with the Ashford Valley - unfortunately I wouldn't have a clue who the secretary is now but I am sure it would be easy for you to find out :) Doesn't the Tickham hunt near there too?

No idea, totally clueless about hunting! Always appealed to me, but totally terrified of trying new things on my own! Ideally, need to find myself a little hunting friend.

Hi Zoon (think your on TRF arent you ??) I'm 20 mins off detling hill towards sitt'b.
Round 'ere you have ashford valley, tickham, or also old surrey and coakham bloodhounds.
best time to get out is now, quieter etc, I just took my new mare for her first days hunting yesterday with coakham - didnt do any jumping, a few hours and probably about 30 ish followers?
i've been cubbing with coakham and old surrey, both good, have been out to meet with coakham at nurstead court which had lots of jumping, also been out a few times with the warlingham mock hunts, i find them by FAR the most welcoming and friendly hunt (staff&followers) but it is very fast and frantic at times, and with a very large following usually.
I was going to go out with tickham this saturday as they are meeting on the same lane as my OH's pub, but I have prior commitments :(
If you want someone to buddy up with i dont mind coming out with you - i go out on my own so meeting up with people is always nice. my mare proved extremely sensible although cant guarantee how she will be 2nd time now she knows the craic. I generally prefer to go out on a weekday but some weekends are ok, I am hoping to go out with Tickham soon as there my most local, and I will look into a sub as i plan on going out quite a bit.
