Does anyone move horses regularly between 2 places?

I am thinking of bringing my mare home from livery for a little bit over xmas, partly to make the xmas season a little less hectic and partly because now she is on recovery, the muddy turnout paddocks we have aren't really the best place to have her recovering!!
So does anyone move their horses quite regularly between two places? She's a very amicable, confident mare and obviously one place is her "home" and the other the livery yard she is used to. She doesn't really DO anxious, but I know moving a horse regularly isn't always the done thing..

Also, have been quietly considering bringing her back 2 days a week for grazing, as grazing at livery is almost non existant...
So thoughts?

We have a livery that is at uni, she takes the horse to livery near the uni and he comes back with her for the holidays, the horse seems very happy with this arrangement, his routine doesnt really change, he is just in a new environment.

The girl who bought my old horse Ed, does similar BP and it seems to suit him (and he was a stress head) very well! However you do hear people say "oh it's not faiiir, it's a lot of upheaval" :) which I do understand, however it's the only workable solution atm I feel!

My pony moves every six weeks for a week where his routine is completely different (goes to my college for a week) and this does not bother him one bit!

This is positive :D

It will be a real treat having her outside the back gate for christmas and plus she'll get to do her "restful" turnout here, our ratio of grass to mud is 70/30 whereas at livery its the opposite (dont get me wrong I love the yard to bits but its not conducive to coming back from injury etc)

My lad has moved 4 times this year between home and my friends yard and has not been at all bothered, and he's quite a sensitive soul! My 2 year old has gone with him and not batted an eyelid, for them it's just like they have 2 'homes'. :)

I think there is another member who actually keeps her horses (the same ones!) at 2 different yards and moves them every other day?

I used to regularly move my two between my parents house and a livery yard. Not enough ground at home to be there full time, but it had a field shelter which the livery did not. Sometimes they would be 'home' overnight and at livery during the day. Other times they would go months in one place. They were perfectly happy on it. My older mare was the boss in both places.

I bring mine home with me or put him at a mates field sometimes if I stay over etc!

He's used to be stuck wherever - doesn't bother him anymore, he won't change a bit. I ride him to work up to the stallion barn now so he gets left tied up most the day there with a haynet to keep him happy whilst I work :)

Yes whenever it suits me ie depends how many we have at one time. Not a problem at all as long as they have food and it sort of entertains them to have a move....I am sure they think ...oh I remember this place!

Water food etc I dont think mine mind...in house entertainment new sights etc! I get asked "where have your horses gone"? They are a feature on our local landscape!

I have stables at two yards - the one close to home has fab turn out and is walkable from my house. The other yard is 20 to 30 mins away depending on the traffic - this has fantastic indoors and outdoors, horse walker and a jumping arena, but not too much turn out and it is a very very competative yard.

I was moving every almost other day, but we have settled into a weekend routine and a weekday routine - my boys are not bothered one little bit. They have a very similar timed routine at each yard for turn out, bring in, and get fed at similar times - although they tend to get two feeds at the comp yard as i only give them a tiny amout prior to working them - either early morn or at night then they get there proper tea or breakfast when they have been worked or after travelling back to the home yard.

Pros - horses are both fit and i am still having lessons, I have all the facilities i want and need. The horses seam to be relaxed - but they are together for travelling and turn out and next to or opposite from each other at both yards - so this may possibly help.

Cons - its a lot of driving with them on the box and i am a proper worrier when i am travelling them, and its expensive in diesel. oh and I won't have a pint if i am driving the horses the next day -so this could be a con - or it could be a pro.

Overall I am really happy with the arrangement - and the yard owner at the comp yard is brilliant, he has phoned me once to see if two horses could stay the night in my boxes as a horse box had broken down at the comp - and tbh it was on a day when i had just left for the home yard so he could have just let them use my boxes and not said a word.
