IMHO it should be compulsory for every horse to have public liability insurance. It is up to individuals whether they insure for accidents and vets bills etc but public liability is vital.
If your horse escapes and injures someone the claim can potentially run to MILLIONS, if it escapes onto a road potentially many people can be very seriously injured. Can anyone afford to pay a claim like that???
BHS Gold membership covers this at fifty odd pounds a year, if you can afford to keep a horse you can afford that!!!
