As the heading really, just wondering if any of you on here livery horses for your local vets? (as in injured/poorly ones)

I have 5 spare stables and don't want liveries and am not sure what to do with them.
Someone suggested this, i have looked into the insurance but not sure what the going rate would be, as it's pretty much a full livery thing i assume.

Any info on this would be great.
 
Not done it that way, but we used to offer livery for horses who needed medical treatment (cold hosing, wound dressing, injections, etc) for our regular liveries. We also had the option of the horse being checked hourly through the night (which was oh so popular with the live in staff!) and cost depended on what needed doing.
 
Are you close to a vets? Caus eif your not close then it owuld be pretty much pointless..

Ive never heard of a horse whose going to the 'vets' go on livery at someone elses yard if im honest.

We have 3 vets in a 5 mile radius, one of them ships out horses to livery for R&R whilst still being under the vets.

It free's up the stables actually on the vets premises.
 
can be quite intenstive if you've got horses that need treatment regularly - and i'd make sure you had a failsafe livery contract agreement e.g. for who pays for the yards of vetwrap etc, and the treatment costs, sorting out the vet, passing on information, what happens if something goes wrong....
however it is really rewarding when you can ship them out all nicely mended - but you have to be TOUGH on the loony ones - (and I mean TOUGH!)
If you get the support from your vets and work with them then that would be an advantage.
You need a good stock of veterinary manuals (Merrick Vet' manual is awesome) and a load more for good luck but also the ability to not be worried by serious problems...e.g. if you get stressed every time something colics then this is bad - you have to be able to stay very calm and just deal with it like any other ordinary problem, or if its pouring blood 'cos it bleedin' well fell over and ripped it's sternum open (...it's happened...)
and really good procedures of what do it in most cases...
I'd love to have this sort of a yard - ahhh i'd be in HEAVEN! (Can I have your yard please???!?
