Lots of people post that they have problems with pulling horses. About 20 years ago I had the same problem and found a solution in the form of a riding aid called a Masterider or Mastarider, I've tried Googling it, but can't find any record of it. I've still got my old one here, but wanted to find a record in case it was of use to anyone. Does anyone recall the device? It was a numnah which had a swivel at the front and and adjustable rein which run through it from bit ring to bit ring. The rein was adjusted so it didn't bite until the horse took hold then when they did they only leant against themselves. It solved my horse from the day I first used it and in the finish I was able to ride with it never coming into play as my horse desisted from the pulling action.

So I can't find it to show it to you all, does anyone else remember it?

Was that a bit like the Schoolmasta? Sort of numnah based training aid that was around in the 80s.

They didn't seem to really catch on, can't remember the last time I saw one.

Unrelated topic-but there was a Wellep bit advertised on ebay the other day as a collectors item. I remember them too. I'm getting old!

Beausmate - I think you have it - I've googled that and found:

http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...v=onepage&q=schoolmasta hilary janion&f=false

That looks exactly what I have/used, I must have had the name wrong. I don't know technically if there were any problems with the theory of it, but I do know it worked - it wouldn't be difficult to set up a DIY version with a few bits from an iron mongers if anyone wanted to try it out.
