Does anyone recognise these scars?

My horse has these 2 asterisk (*) shaped scars on the backs of his hind legs - i'm assuming they are scars as they are too perfect and symmetrical to be markings. He had a 5 stage vetting when i bought him 5 months ago and the vet didn't mention anything about them. Was just wondering if anyone had ever seen anything like this before?

No, they could be part of his markings, but they are unusual

I'd say they were just markings...

Just look like markings, if they were scars they would be likely to have bald areas or puckering of the skin.

Dont worry wont be long before he is white and you cant see them at all, then you will want them back!!!

cool, i just thought they were very unusual. the pics aren't very clear - they're sharper in real life. anyway, they don't bother him or anything, so i'm sure they're nothing. i was just a bit worried in case he'd had some major operation or something! no record in his passport tho...

Murphy used to have some like that and others which followed his veins. Perfectly normal in a grey, sadly Murph's have whited out now.

Definitely markings just like my old grey in my sig, his markings were amazing the way they followed the veins on his legs....gorgeous

Yep markings for sure. My mare is losing her dapples now but a few years ago her markings looked like snake skin down her back legs, Weird but very striking.

They are markings, next time you see another dapple grey horse have a look and you'll see them exactly the same.

YO's dapple grey gelding has exactly the same - I'm always amazed how perfect they are too
