the gritters may actually be out gritting prior to the snow falling ever??? It happened in Jan and again now this time no excuse as we stil have lots of grit! But it annoys me the country grinds to a halt all because the gritters don't get out on the roads until the roads are actually covered in snow!!!

Sorry for the rant but its just taken me 1hr instead of 30mins to drive home on main A roads with only a little bit of lanes at the end (which i know will be snowy) but seriously the main link from M6 to M1 by me was snowed over...ridiculous

Depends on how much snow and how much traffic - for grit to work it needs traffic to go over it and not too much snow before they do! Worked fine round here, all the roads were clear, they'd even gritted the estate roads.

wow you are lucky...we just actually hadn't had any gritters and this morning its even worse, bus routes arent even done, it will be snow plough here before grit works. It was a busy road I was on so if it had been gritted it would have melted they just were beaten by the snow before they could act!!
