Seems very similar to the Neue Schule trans angled universal that I use. But with the added bonus of being almost a third of the price. I really like the Neue Schule, gives me good control without too harsh brakes. Horse does have a tendency to get a bit 'heavy' on it, but not found a bit he can't work out how to lean on yet! If the Jeffries is similar in action to the Neue Schule I would say its definitely worth a go.
Tried the bit last night and he loved it!. He was very relaxed and a joy to ride which was lucky as the world and his wife were at my yard last night so we had quite an audience. I was so confident in my pony we even popped some jumps at a height I wouldn't normally be brave enough to do and certainly never attempted with my pony before.
I have it for jumping and so far we have better steering and control over the hanging cheek snaffle - I'm yet to try and pull up him in it when he's on one!! He does seem to lean a little more in it oddly enough, but thats fixable
I will do, hoping to do a bit more than pop a couple of fences tomorrow and then off playing jumpies (xc schooling) sunday, so I'll see how brave I feel about stopping and try not to revert to the waterford! Good luck
H was awesome in his new bit, forward, not leaning, not tanking ears pricked and listened all afternoon. Had the ability to pull up and steer Awesome fun xc schooling and managed to do a round of SJ (8 faults tho) with ace steering
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but would anyone be able to tell me if the action of this bit differs significantly from any other 3 ring gag with lozenge? I am not sure whether the slightly offset top ring makes a difference to one that is just welded onn the top of the snaffle part IYSWIM.
