Looking for new hat for daughter (14)

Does PC, and dressage as well as hacking (not too keen on SJ)

Two options weve narrowed down to is the Pro Tector peaked and Charles Owen AY8.

The AY8 looks classy, but the Pro Tector meets Snell standards.

But think the Pro tectors are more SJ as can be more blingy

Does anyone have them for dressage ?

thanks in advance

In my opinion the two suit different head shapes so try before you buy!

I recently bought a Charles Owen YR8 at Olympia, which fits me great (and was considerably cheaper!)
I tried the Pro Tector skull cap at the time (as keen on the snell safety aspect) and it was just nowhere near fitting me - tight at the top of my head and loose around the bottom! The lady on the stall was very helpful and tried some padding but it was still nowhere near. I generally have to stick to Charles Owen or Uvex as not much else fits me!

Edit to add - in terms of style I think you can get away with a lot more bling for dressage nowadays! But not sure what the PC would think!

Also bought Ayr8 at Olympia for daughter's Christmas present. It meets BE standards. Kitemarked to PAS015 and BSEN 1384 and certified by SEI to ASTM F1163

We tried the PROtector which didn't fit and lady put no end of padding in to make it 'fit'. Still felt horrible apparently.

Yes I have a protector black with some sparkles and I wear it for dressage. Lots of people wear them.
As for fittings i am not sure about the Ayr8 but I've had a Charles Owen that fitted lovely before the protector
You do obviously have to try them

Personally, I can't see the point in buying anything less than SNELL standard - it's the highest standard currently available and its job is to help protect your brain ( and yes I know that's just my opinion ).
A couple of years ago my son got a Pro Tector, last year I got a Charles Owen 4 star, and a couple of months ago my daughter was bought a Gatehouse HS1. We all use them for every activity - sj/xc/Dr etc and use it with the appropriate silk. In each case it was the hat which fitted the best from the limited Snell models available which was chosen. ( I desperately wanted the gatehouse RXC1, and so did my daughter, but it simply wouldn't fit either of us).

Soon the cycle will start again with my son getting a new SNELL hat ( poor bank balance 😏), and it will probably be a Pro Tector.

I have a PROtector, the ultimate one with a line of pink above the peak and across the middle (in the V shape) with bits of bling along - customer made.

I bought mine for dressage, I rarely jump these days but can't quite get the show jumper out of me!
Mine came with a lycra cover that fitted over the peak and hat, this was so I could use it for Pony Club - not sure how old the man thought I was when explaining it but he was little read faced when I told him I was 10yrs too old to be an associate pony club member he he.
