Yes usually get my farrier a bottle, he never lets me down, and never charges me for lost shoes etc, and i like to show my appreciation, rent my own place so no YO.

Farrier getting a bottle of wine and I'll get something special for my lovely instructor without whom I would still be sitting backwards on my horse!
[/ QUOTE ] LOL!! , woops forgot about kids insructor
my YO is amazing! she has supported me throughout my whole pyscho (sp) rearing horse problem and helped me with the legal stuff. So she's gonna get a lovely big xmas prezzie this year! love her
My YO has a few bottles of wine and some choccies (shes my mums best friend and next door neighbour) and my farrier has a bottle of whiskey it keeps him sweet and he's always out within the day if i have one thats shoe comes off so he's a life saver.
Must admit I've never thought to get my farrier anything, mostly because I'm not normally there when he's at the yard so don't really know him very well.
I do always get a little pressy for the YO, usually a bottle of something. I don't have a horse at the moment but I've got her a pressy this year anyway because hopefully I'll be back there in the spring with my new horse.
I usually get my farrier a bottle of wine and a card. Keep mine at home now so no YO to buy for but when i was at livery i used to buy a tin of chocolates/biscuits and a bottle of whiskey with a card.
Farrier - my mum is in charge of paying the farrier, I have no idea if she gives him any extra money at Xmas! My current farrier I don't like very much and I only see him every two months, so he won't be getting anything.
YO - which?! Original YO is more of a friend so she always gets a present, new YO hates me but I may send her a card just to help get back on her right ride, and share horse's YO is more of a land-lady and friend and will be sharing the "yard" choccie tin!
I bought the farriers boys choccies last year as normally the apprentices did my horse. Not sure what to get the main man as it were this year as he has been shoeing the beast. Hmm... will have to think, lucky I know his hobbies !
There is talk of the liveries putting money in and getting the YOs a pressie, but wether that will happen or not ?
We used to cook an extra special breakfast for our lovely ex farrier(we moved away) at the appointment before Christmas! He'd also get a bottle and chocolates for his wife.
The YM here is a right sour old cow so she will not be receiving a gift from me .
