Yeah i rug them alot in winter when they are clipped and they have medium weight in the summer or lightweights on really hot days allthough they do get some turn out without rugs on nice sunny days!

No I leave mine off all summer unless it's torrential rain - like last summer if he is going to be out all the time. Depends on each horse/owner though.
 
i've always taken rugs off before for summer, but that was for a highland brought up outside, now i have a TB from the warmer south of england lol she would have no rug whenever possible tho
 
No he is naked as soon as the weather warms up a bit...he can go into his field stable out of the rain if he wants too.

please tell me you live in a really cold country? I can't imagine anything being rugged in medium weights in summer, or even lightweights a lot of the time! And that includes both our skinny event horses...
can I ask why?
 
I tend to have to. I do try to avoid it but even a summer breeze leaves mine shivering and with his knees knocking so he tends to have something on for most of the year

On the very warm days he has a fly sheet on as they really bother him and he'll get a summer sheet thrown on late at night. He gets really miserable when its cold and while it sounds like im being a silly over protective owner, its actually been quite a problem
