Does bad publicity put you off eventing?

I've read a lot about the recent tragic fatalities in eventing and my heart goes out to all involved. It hasn't however put me or my OH off eventing ourselves - maybe we think it won't happen to us because we're not at the top level, never done above Novice and not especially ambitious to do so!

I just wondered of the eventers amongst you - are you put off eventing because of the risk? Or do you accept the risk as part of having and riding a horse?

I think everyone associated eventing is well aware of the danger associated to both horse and rider.

Life is full of risks - by choosing to event we take more than some. Balanced against that we are lucky enough to partcipate in the greatest sport in the world.

Personally, the day I go into a XC start box worrying about what might happen will be the day I retire.
