I am planning on giving horse a bath to get some really good photos of him. I normally use just tesco value shampoo, and find this seems to do a really good job - however, just wondering if I would get even better results with one of these colour enhancer thingys!

I think it makes a difference to mine - I have a grey & a bay. I also use Dolly Blue on both.

What I do first is wash them in cheap shampoo (usually Co Op Apple shampoo - 89p!) then wash again with the colour enhancing shampoo - my choice is QuickSilver or QuikBlack

I find it does, particularly using a blueing shampoo on white legs. I don't have a grey horse so can't say...but as I'm a dog groomer and I use color enhancing shampoos all the time on client's dogs I can say what helps is to allow the shampoo to sit on the coat for as long as you can before rinsing.

I use the Hilton Herbs blue on my ones with a lot of white and it's great, it brings all the dirt to the surface and they really gleam, just have to rug them if it rains before they have had time to roll all the dirt back in!

I'd have said no BUT last week my lad needed a good proper scrub and I ran out of my usual baby shampoo so borrowed a tiny bit of someone's black enhancing shampoo to do the last scrub with!! I have never had so many comments about him afterwards and still now his coat is absolutely gleaming and darker than it's every been...we even have some lovely dabbles now too!!!! I'll definatley be buying that product next time!!

When I worked in Showing we used to use the Champion tails products and they were excellent.

I don't know if they still do but they used to have a range of colour enhancing shampoos and dye washes if I remember rightly.

Now i just use a general horse shampoo for body and blue shampoo for his socks.
