Does getting the bin out count as distructive behaviour?

In a dogs are depressed kind of the way?

dogs have run of the house but I have stupidly left the kitchen door open a couple of times recently - I come back to a house of carnage!!!

They don't do anything else wrong but I'm wondering if it's a sign of A) We are really fed up or B) we might get told off a little bit but it's worth it to get into that steal drum where they put all the goodies!!

My mums dogs once did it and my dads little JRT got a tin of beans stuck on her head!! He came home to find her wandering around bumping into things.

I would suspect it's a sign of:

"Quick! They've gone! Something in there smells really good nom nom nom nom nom nom nom.......

Look out they're coming back! Look depressed!"

Or perhaps.....

Well for my dog it's definitely a case of getting to the goodies - i take her to work and she quite often does a round of the bins by peoples desks looking for tasty wrappers - she sneaks them back to her bed hoping i don't notice!! She often makes a mess around the bin before she's caught!

I'd imagine you'd see some other type of carnage when the kitchen door is shut if they were unhappy?

Oh that is so true, my lab will steal from the bin if its left down, nothing more than greed if you ask me!!! I walk in, look at her, and she puts on that sheepish face they do, looking a mixture of worried, sorry and guilty! Then I growl at her telling her how naughty she is and she hides her face

My bosses dog raids the bins every time he comes to work - like Ginas dog, he is just looking for tasty wrappers to chew on. Funniest is when the bins are empty, he just picks the bin up and parades around the office with it covering his face so he bumps into everything

All our bins have been moved off floor level due to the presence of Henry the Bin Diver

Tis a small price to pay for having a Stress Spaniel around though!

I tried that but "Bigley" lives up to his name and is huge!! So he can reach the desks in search of bins......never goes for anything else on the desks though which is lucky. The boy does just love a bin!!

Oh good - thank god other dogs are naughty little feckers!!!!

I think it seems to be a gun dog thing - why are they so hungry all the time!!?? (Star is a German Pointer), she vommed up all her dinner, which TBH looked exactly the same as it did in the dish! I assume it's because she'd troughed our left over chinese that we put in the bin on monday!

She's looking a bit hungry now.. I think she wanted us to leave the sick so she could eat it again!

Dogs are quite minging!

Can ipoint you in the direction of a Lab who had a thing for underwear. One very expensive trip to the vets, a large scar on pup's belly and a mangled retrieved pair of messers marks and spencers finest later.... no underwear is left anywhere a dog could get to it!
