I had a riding lesson the other day and my instructor (sister-in-law) said that I lean forwards and it beacuse........... I have *looks around to make sure no men are looking or listening* a big chest!!!

Is this ture or is she just saying that, to make me feel better about leaning??!

sorry vey crude I know!!:rolleyes::p

I agree it can make a difference. A good sports bra and working on your core muscles pretty much can cancel it out though.

I just make sure all the time I am out of the saddle I concentrate on my posture. While doing everything, even driving, I make sure I am up straight. It makes a big difference.

I think often it isn't that it is the weight of them pulling you forward but more the case that women with big boobs tend to slouch their shoulders to disguise them. The weight especially with a badly fitting bra can cause postural issues, but this would be in general not just when riding. If it is just when riding it is more likely to be reluctance to actually stick your chest out.....

I have quite big boobs for my frame and I feel like when I try to sit up straight that I am trying to stick them out and I feel like a complete idiot, so I try to disguise it by wearing baggy tops and things.

A body protector can certainly help the bounce factor but depending on the ....er.....size of your problem you may find that the bouncing problem has been replaced by a breathing problem. I think it depends what you have to pay but I find it very hard to get a body protector that allows space for them and generaly have a squished chest effect that makes breathing difficult.

A decent underwired sports Bra is a wonderful thing, if I dont wear mine I end up hunching in more that forwards to try to reduce bounce. Bravissimo was a great place to look for larger sized support but I havent looked at the site for a while.

I don't find body protectors help position ever and if they do it is artificial. They may reduce bounce but normally only if they are so tight as to be restrictive - a sports bra is designed to stop boobs bouncing, a BP is designed to stop you injuring yourself, use them both for the purpose they are intended and do not try to use one to do the others job!!! :D

A good well fitted sports bra is the only way to stop the bounce factor, I wouldn't get an underwired one in case of a fall (and also because of washing them!). You will need to shop around for a good one, each time i need one I have to go to several shops but at the moment I have a fab freya one that is brilliant.

I've heard several instructors (female) advise groups of students (also female) to pretend they've got big headlights pointing forwards from their boobs...helps rider posture, and keeping shoulders parallel with shoulders of horse! :o

Hmm...maybe that's my issue then! 4 years or so ago I never had this problem, but now 20, and for the last couple of years, I've developed that habit ....maybe there's the cause there lol?

No, it's not true, it is down to your posture. A lot of bigger ladies do tend to slouch their shoulders so as not to seem to be making a point about their assets. This then becomes their normal posture.
make a point of putting your shoulders back as much as possible.

My sister, who is rather well endowed, swears by wearing two sports bras at the same time to minimise bounce.

Leaning forward is just a result of poor posture / riding technique.

If she needs two sports bras then she isn't getting a properly fitted suitable bra in the first place.

You need to look for one aimed at big boobs and high impact sports. Then make sure it fits well. It needs to be snug around the band and hold your boobs firmly. You might need to go a size smaller than usual. You then need to adjust the straps and make sure they do not slip.

I'd recommend bravissimo for a good sports bra fitting if you are a D cup or above (in fact if you are a C give it a go too as most people are in a cup size too small!).

Mine are an F and I am fine in just one sports bra!!!!!!

I have a fab sports bra from Less Bounce for my 32Gs *hides in shame for admitting bra size in public*

It certainly doesn't affect my posture when riding, provided you think about your posture and don't slouch they shouldn't make any difference.

Look, when boobies where being handed out, I was at the back of the queue!

However, I lean forwards and stick my bum out. Annoying as I actually have a good posture off a horse, but a rubbish one on a horse!
