Does insurance usually cover bandaging supplies?

As it says in title really.
So far I have been getting all my bandaging supplies from the vet- I just assumed these would be covered by the insurance claim...but a friend then said hers wasn't when her horse had an injury- it was only the actual vet treatment which was covered so she got all of her supplies cheaper online.

I will phone KBIS when I get home later but just thought id check here until then!
 
Should cover whatever's on the vet's bill as part of treatment for that injury so yep, bandaging etc would be included. Mind you, some costs vets claim for on the bills are a bit OTT - reading one claim in my previous job, I was quite shocked at how expensive cotton wool (from the vet) is!!! :D

I got a teeny tiny pot of vaseline to apply and paid a ridiculous amount for it.

But yes both NFU and Shearwater included all those bits and pieces. However one time at the vets they asked me who I was insured with as they were adding Newmarket Joint Supplement and said with some companies you have to be careful how it appears on the bill as they will not pay if it's just a supplement.
 
As others have said mine covered everything that was on the vets bill. Including a whole 2 boxes of Bute which I was still using months later!
 
Great thank for all the replies! At the minute it a mind battle of buying the supplies myself vs letting them go on the bill and using up precious vets fees!!

We have brought all our own bandages to save room on the claim if he needs more treatment, tho insurance has said if we save the invoices that they will pay us back if there is money left over.
 
Yes when my pony broke his splint bone and needed to wear a soft cast that the vet made out of cotton wool and bandages and needed to be changed every 10 days for 10 weeks NFU covered the costs of the bandages as well as the vet coming out to re-bandage him every 10 days.

The vet did warn me before hand that the bandaging would be expensive though and asked me if I was insured!

I also got £500 towards the extra costs of being on box rest too.
