does it kill...?

It's not the cushings that kills, but the side effects of it can. Murphy had Cushings. The only symptom was recurrent laminitis - he ended up being put to sleep because of this.

It depends on the horse and how early it's caught and how well it's managed.

The grey in my signature has Cushings - he was diagnosed two years ago after recurring bouts of laminitis. He has to be carefully managed and is on Pergolide. As long as he doesn't get laminitis again, he should be ok for a good few years yet - but management is the key thing and he is no longer ridden because of the dangers of any concussion.
