My dad was really horrible about him the other day and said he wasn't being fed right.... even said he was "suffering".. He says he doesn't have enough muscle and top line and it's because my mum is spending all my money at the pub instead of on top line cubes! It has made me a bit paranoid!!

Do you think he looks that bad??

Please be honest!!

When I first read your post I was expecting to see a horse with ribs clearly on show or something but your horse looks great

No offense intended but how much does your dad actually know about horses?

He looks fab..if anything I'd say he looks a little too well..

Yes he's got a big fat tum, hasn't he!!

I think he is just an odd shape.. the only time he has looked well covered on his back end is when he was insanely fat..

I do see what my dad means in a way but he has always looked kind of fat and thin at the same time... thats just the way he is I think..

No offence intented here either but this isn't the first time you've posted about your dad insulting your horse, so i'm thinking maybe he's a bit jealous or something?!

stop being paranoid, he looks lovely!

He knows a lot about horses and TBF, his horse looks amazing at the mo. But he also dislikes my mum..

I think he's just being spiteful. Not sure why he has to involve me though.

It's not nice to hear that your horse looks a total mess.

Not a good place to be - in the middle of parents

IMO your horse looks lovely and from your posts I would say he's doing rather well. Take your dad's comments on board and balance them with your knowledge of your horse and make your decisions based on that

Beautiful horse, I have a soft spot for greys.

I think he looks fine, perhaps he has the start of a bit of a belly, but otherwise he looks great.

Would agree with ellies mum 2's comments.

He doesnt look bad but he could look better

. i dont think his feed or lack of has anything to do with it.He looks a bit short on muscle and top line which is rider fault/laziness.Work him long and low then collect and he will come up from below. He looks healthy enough just missing a bit of hard muscle. Mairi.

SB, it was not a dig. He looks healthy and well cared for. In my opinion he could look better.Looking better means-work him correctly. He has very little muscle /tone and IMO is due to rider fault. Dont be upset, Im answering you honestly.Would you prefer if I was gushing and told you how wonderful he looked? Sorry, I couldnt do that. Mairi.

Jeez, are you only intending to read replies like "I think he looks great" etc.? I agree with Mairi though, I think he could look better, and IMO she was giving you constructive advice...

Sorry SB, but saying someone is too big for their pony (whether it's true or not) is not constructive, nor is it advice.
Nobody said you were crap. Why are you beating yourself up?

****whispers***** think that SB maybe feeling quite sensitive to comments, even if meant nicely or constructivley, as I am assuming that her Dad has really upset her. ****runs to hide now!!!

Ah, the difference is that Mairi said it on the forum and didn't send you a rude PM... Your PM didn't contain any constructive advice at all! I hardly consider " you look to weigh about 10 stone FFS!" and "your time with Castle should have finished long ago IMO" as constructive advice... Anyway, I'm going to try to refrain from posting on this thread again as this is just ridiculous...
crazy.gif
Oh, and Mairi NEVER said you were a crap rider...!

Arrrgg, no point in going over old ground... as someone just said I'm just a bit upset about it all.
frown.gif

I can obviously see that he could look better... I'm just wondering what to do about it.

Thanks mairi... I need to improve our dressage too so I might be able to kill two birds with one stone.

At least no one thinks he is suffering like my dad!
