Does my pony still look fat????

I have had Min since last May he arrived very obese and in need of shedding in excess of 60 kgs!! He is almost there but he still looks porky to me, he is a cob and only 14.2hh.
The first pic is when he arrived and was fat, unfit and hairy.

This one was last July/August

Feb 2008, my vet is quite pleased with him when she saw him recently, she thinks he has achieved his target weight loss. I sometimes stil see porky pony!

Still looks a tad well covered, would try to loose a little more as is likely to bulge with the Spring grass.

I sometimes think it's harder to get doers trim than poor doers covered.

He is quite heavily built so be careful not to judge him too hard.

Does he still have the channel down the middle of his bum?

To me he looks well muscled and fit with a little bit of a porky belly, but nothing to worry too much about.

You will prob have to watch him when the spring grass starts coming through!

Min has been on restricted grazing since he arrived, we were set a diet and ex plan to follow as he is also laminitic. He has gone all winter with 30-40lbs of hay depending on weather(he lives out) and a kilo of hi-fi with a vitamin supplement. He is worked 5 days a week. I am now lost as to how I can get him slimmer.....HELP!! and he is muzzled during the day in the summer. He has finally lost his apple bot, so no longer has a gutter, and he has gone down from an xxwide to a wide.

Yes it is very difficult once you get to a certain point they don't seem to want to loose any more! He is looking loads better and if he has lost his gutter too then you have done well. The only thing you could look at is increasing the intensity of his work...what work does he do...hacking, schooling wise and for how long?
I have to say though that I have always struggled to get my lad down further than 490kg even though he was being ridden 6 days a week hacking for an hour and one of those rides was a 15 mile pleasure ride all in trot! Not sure what else you can do as you seem to be doing everything right...the key is to watch hm when the spring grass comes through as that is when you need to check his weight every week.

He's lovely, but could do with losing a tiny bit more weight before spring, in my opinion. My two are both fatties so I know how hard it can be. My gelding has reached his target weight set by the vet but still looks podgy

What a lovely boy. Have to agree, he could do with losing a little more.

QR....

i wouldn't say he was obese.. he does need a good fitness regime..which would give him a good topline and lift his tummy..

plenty of walk and trot for a good 3-4 weeks should do it.

Thanks for the replies...
Min has been a fitness regime for nearly a year now. If we hack out we are out for 1 1/2-2 hours walking out properly and trot work, where we live is very hilly so we have no shortage of hills to trot up. He is schooled twice a week for up to an hour.
Min is 11 and until I got him he had been in the field for 5 years unridden and allowed to get very fat indeed.

He is very comfy, has a suprisingly long stride for is size keeps up with all the big boys! His downfall is he is very spooky so coupled with the shortness of his back can make it a bit hairy at times. He is working very well on the flat at the mo, he is very flexible.

Hes handsome!

Im having trouble getting my mares weight down at the mo..we seem to have got to a certain point and stopped

He looks a genuine and kind boy, he's a ''chunky monkey'', but continuing your regime with him should do the trick and I'm sure he will tone up and lose a wee bit more tum, but be aware that you should still feed him, for the amount of work he is doing, otherwise the body goes into thinking it needs to store more fat, so they do in fact need some hard feed.
