Does no one ride in the rain nowadays

Do you call the vet in every case of lameness/cut/bump

I'll ride in the rain (unless it's total torrential down pour where the horses just want to turn their bum into it and forget how to listen to you!) and wind unless it's a complete gale as I hack out mostly and horsey is a bit spooky in the wind.
Ice/fog etc tho I avoid riding in for safetys sake.

Yes, ride in any weather, light and dark as Pedantic. I have a drizabone riding mac, high vis and a light vest and lights on my ankles. Also have high vis on the horse incase I fall off - he buggers off.

Rain - After all - its only water.

Yes, I am ashamed to say I do not ride in the rain!

I do it for pleasure and don't see any pleasure in getting soaking wet.
Besides, I may shrink!

I ride in all weathers except really, really windy as Dec simply can't keep his brain between his ears when it's like that.

I really quite like riding in the rain. Once I have my full length coat on and he's in his waterproof exercise sheet not much gets through and I love the feeling of getting back to the yard having worked him whilst everyone else is still umming and ahhing about what to do with theirs or whether to bother at all.

It is called freezing rain here for a reason!

Rug and mane rigid, and this is what it does to plants and anything else it hits!

On the other hand, I will quite happily ride in 3' of snow at -20C, when the sky is blue and the sun is shining, how can you not?

If I want to ride I'll go out in any weather - had my mare out in storms, lightening (in distance !!) & thankfully she's fine - more likely to object to shadows when sunny !!

Rarely had access to an indoor school usually just fields & epping forest but do try to stay out of forest if v.windy / lightening as a friend had a tree crash right in front of her after we'd had lots of rain then strongish winds.

Those are gorgeous pics, Enfys!

I love riding in the rain, once I'm on. If it's driving rain and windy, I do tend to cancel more than I used to, but that's because of Raynaud's symptoms and if that kicks in on a ride, I've been known to cry at the pain, so I err on the side of caution if I haven't got yeti suits with me!

I will often ride in the rain/wind as no indoor school and need horse kept fit. I do try to plan her days off for the worst weather forecast days though! Have also made a last minute decision to go to local SJ centre for their SJ schooling evening (in their lovely big INDOOR arena!

) before as the weather was pants!

I have also gone through 2 summers out of 3 where she's been injured and off work for long periods of time, so try to remember the frustration of not being able to ride when I'm feeling like wimping out and taking it all for granted!
