does she look unhappy now?

it doesnt much look like sweetitch does it?! If only they could talk then you could understand what she has been through with her ex ex owner. I am sure with time and patience she will come right. I think she is lovely and add me to the list of takers if you do ever get annoyed with her!

shes come on so quickly in such a short period of time i think shes going to be a fairly easy pony to work with, and just a wonderful height
however cant see her upsetting me, shes too nice for that.

She looks a fair bit slimmer than my Haffie LOL he has been getting ad lib hay in the snow and I took his rugs off to give him a bit of a groom yesterday and thought OMG - you little fatty

She is gorgeous, mine doesn't have a mane either. I don't bother what is "correct" I love pulled manes. I do spend many happy hours washing and combing his tail though.

Most of the Haffie's I've known (my old boss used to import them) are pretty bargy and pushy to handle. they do in general seem to be aware of their own strength. That said, mine is very gentle and polite so I don't think it is a hard and fast rule. They are def super intelligent ponies though.

I hope you have fun with her, Haffies are great!

yay another haffie owner - think well have to set up a haffie owner clique lol.

glad she doesnt look bad, especially at this time of year. the majority of the time shes a lovely pony, she has moments when shes bolshy but thats mainly when shes un the stable and her friends arent but they are few and far between so its all good really.

Lovely looking horse. Looks the PERFECT weight to me (sighs enviously).

How are you going to treat the scabs? Just see if rugging in winter and sweet itch rugging in summer will help?

I had a sweet itch horse, and I CAN see those scabs she has being very bad sweet itch. I would own one again in a flash. Mine's Boett transformed him

thanks Naturally,
shes had a few baths since I got her before the weather turned bad. Shes been bathed in dermoline and rinsed with a TCP wash. so this will continue when the weather picks up.
She also had aloe vera gel rubbed into all the affected areas which has drastically helped.
ive been trying to keep to one methid only to see if it helps/hinders before trying something else. Didnt want to bombard her with loads of new things and not know which one has actualyl worked with her.

My main thing will be to have her rugged - we have sweet itch hoodies and the waterproof liners should the weather turn through the summer so hopefully that will help, but tbh theres not that much that i can see for her to rub on as most of my fencing is electric, but obviously if she wants to scratch/rub she will so keep an eye on that.

Id like to keep her unrugged, mainly so she can mutual groom with my other horses (this is a complete no no at the moment as when she has her rugs off she runs away from my girls when they want to groom her, she mustnt realise it doesnt hurt yet) but it maybe that i have to rug her 24/7 all year.
