ok so ill admit this is going to be a bit of a rant but it annoys the hell out of me!!!

i have a friend who is very knowledgeable in dressage, racing and general horses i would go to her for any simple yet stupid questions, but last night she really ticked me off. we were sat watching the 2010 polo gold cup on tv and all she did was rant about how dangerous polo is, how the horses arent looked after properly and you would never get her treating her animals like that and polo is not a sport, theres no finese about it.

well luckily i didnt react that badly, having played polo for 2 yrs i know how the game is played, the rules of the game and having groomed for a semi pro i know how the horses are looked after....... very bloody well!!! so for her sake i let my dad argue with her and stayed out of it.

i understand people have their own opinions and are entitled to say what they think, i just hate it when people mouth off about a sport they know nothing about and of course as soon as anyone starts dissing their sport its a big no no. if u cant take it dont dish it out!!!!! some people can be sooo narrow minded, you could be the best rider in the world at ur given sport, but how can you form an opinion on something you've never tried???

ok rant over! :) how are everybody neddys doing??? i miss mine lots but am due home from my well earnt holiday tomorrow so cant wait to see him and give him lots of cuddles :D :D :D
 
If she is into racing she ought to know better, as that is one of the industries that gets well and truly slated! I wouldn't have been able to help it, I would have told her not to judge that which she did not know! At least the horses are fit, and not overweight, unlike so many of the dressage horses that grace the pages of H&H ( as I duck for incoming missile fire)
 
Whatever sport you do there are always those who's methods are questionable....and if she is in racing she should know that, unless she goes around with eyes and ears shut!

Like any equestrian sport there is good and bad in polo. But how many racehorses are still racing into their teens? If polo was so bad they would be breaking down all over the place. A lot of retired racehorses go on to make successful polo ponies, good job someone gives them a second chance.

Yes, there are some players who are rough, as in any sport, but these ponies are (supposed to be) fit and lean and well protected with boots and bandages, and only play for 7 minutes at a stretch.

And yes, I have worked with polo and racehorses...years ago!
 
haha EKW yes she would because in her eyes nothing she says is wrong..... just irritates the frick out of me!!! i spose i should shut up, be the bigger person and walk away...... easier said then done!! ahhh well theres more important things in life to worry about!! :)
