Two days ago this was the size of a 10p coin - horse has developed sweet itch and the lump seemed to be connected to a sore bit on his mane. The vet was seeing him for something unrelated so took a look but didn’t think it was infected and said to keep an eye on it. Yesterday it was bigger but this evening it’s much bigger and seems to be tracking down his neck. It’s not hot, he doesn’t like it being touched but it doesn’t seem to be super tender. There’s no obvious break in the skin or head to it. Any ideas?

Thanks - I’ll call the vet in the morning. Poor thing has had a rotten couple of weeks - he trod on something very sharp in the field which resulted in a deep puncture wound in his frog, rubbed his mane raw so we had to hog him and put steroid cream on the sores, then he got nasty rubs where the bandage was despite it being changed daily - he has very sensitive skin - and now this :(

Could be that his immune system is in overdrive given the previous maladies!

I would have the vet.
