My lad sometimes sits up like he does after rolling (but usualy then shuffles around on him bum and rolls to the opposite side) he doesn't look too bad whilst walking off, but I am not 100% and I also don't know how he usualy walks.

Not sure about the walk as the camera isn't straight

However the sitting up is perfectly normal to me, mine does this and begins a horsey yoga routine to try and scratch his belly with his back legs. Product of sweet itch and the others don't often do this.

Although caught his brother having a good belly scratch the other day as we have lots of weird small, but not midges bugs about.

Yes, although the sitting dog position often indicates some damage to the pelvis he just looks as if he likes getting up that method.
A mare we had used to sit for ages in that position and the chiro said it was because her pelvis had twisted, your pony looks nothing like that, so I wouldn't worry.

Hi there
My horse does it as well, hes always done it, he sits up and shuffles round on his bum and rolls the other side he then gets up and sits for ages somtimes just looking around the field.
Ive had him for 21yrs and hes always done it and theres nothing wrong with him at all.
You could get his back checked to put your mind at rest, but you'll probably find theres nothing wrong with him

my mums lippizanner sits like that in the field.... and my old pony would sit for a moment whilst getting up from his roll. i dont think thats a problem, isnt it how some horses get their balance half way through the "get up"? yeah, get his back checked, then see his his walk/sitting habit changes after it. if it doesnt, thats just him. how long has he done it?

Mine do this sometimes. I think he's fine. His walk after isn't a proper walk - I mean he's having a bit of excitement isnt he? One of mine gets very excited with rolling, when he gets up he usually does a massive fly buck and tanks off!

I did think he looked quite stiff from behind on his near side when he walked away from the camera, but not sure if this was the camera angle, so would be interested to see another shot, he just didn't seem like he was stepping through more a shuffle if that makes sense!

Both mine often get up like this, and Chancer particularly likes to sit and view his surroundings.

Looked a little stiff behind but nothing major - but difficult to tell from the angle of the camera.
