Does this seem odd to you?

I have a horse for sale on Horsemart. Now I know that she's not up for a lot of money, and I did put LWVTB on the advert, but I received a very odd email saying:

I have a 14.3hh stallion and would like some more pictures of your horse so that I could LWVTB to breed her. Did the person think I would loan her to breed from and then send her back??!!!

Now, taking into consideration that I meant the LWVTB would be short term and she would have to stay at my yard, and that she has a slight cataract in one eye, would you reply to this e mail?

I think it's a scam, but even if it isn't, I 'm advertising her as a horse to be ridden, not to breed from!

That does sound quite strange indeed. Maybe if you are not sure whether or not it is a scam then you can just politely email back saying that unfortunately that is not what you are looking for for her.

I don't think this would leave you in a vulnerable position if it is a scam, would it?

I did wonder!!

I mean, I wouldn't breed from her due to this defect, and I certainly made no mention of loaning her to breed from!!!

Agggghhh!!! it's a nightmare to find a sensible, nice home for horses!!

I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who wouldn't reply, thanks!

I think it's innocent enough.

They obviously read LWVTB not as "loan with view to buy" - but as meaning,

"Loan with view to breed"

Some people advertise mares to be loaned to be bred from.
