Had a call enquiring about the gelding I am selling. They said they were from a police force and I just wondered if it were likely. The gelding is a belgian WB rising 12 but I thought they would most likely go for ID types and a lot younger. What do you guys think?

I think someone else on here (can't remember who though sorry) had a call like this and it turned out to be a scam. Although I think she was told her horse was for the army and would be a calvary black.

It may be genuine but I would be a bit suspicious.

Police officers generally look for horse's between 8-10. And I *think* they go for 16.3hh as a minimum. Is it obvious ive been watching Mounted Branch, way too much?

. But yes, I think its a hoax.

People are strange if it is a hoax! Why bother!! They are meant to be calling back to arrange a viewing but I wont hold my breath!

my friend paula had a phone call from liverpool police they came and rode him out but he failed as he was a bit silly when asked to walk on a busy road between a moveing lorry and bus he wasnt asked to walk on the left it was in the middle as a car would be so he failed there test so yes they do ring and try horses out ,

Dodgy, but easy enough to check up, you never know.
Just ask for their details and call the relevant branch, look up the contact number for yourself though.

He is 17hh. The number came up unknown when she first rang but if they do call back I will get more details! Hope it is genuine cos he'd be a great police horse!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it is genuine. I would love to think a horse of mine was doing a useful job, and being so well taken care of. Police horses are treated like kings!
Just keep your ears pricked for any dodgy signs. Good luck with it x

if any police officer calls you they should be able to produce their collar number when asked so ask them or if they come try him ask to see their warrent card if they dont seem quite right! hope its real tho

I did have a genuine call from the Household Cavalry. He gave me his number to call him back on if my horse failed the vet (he was already sold) on something like not breathing clean, because he wouldn't care what it breathed like.

could be genuine, depends what your advert read like.
Police dont only take over 16.3! and dont only have ID "chunky" types

generally though they get horses in younger, but depends what force it was
