Does this sound like a Heart Problem???

I was at the yard today and my friend was on her horse in the yard - he just put his head down to nibble some grass and suddenly acted like something frightened him - he suddenly shied and started backing (hard to describe really) my friend jumped off and he relaxed but what worried us was the fact that I could actually SEE his heart beating behind his elbow - has anyone got any opinion on this - I was worried he had a heart murmor or similar? Last year he suddenly collapsed in his box but has been fine since.

What did the vets say when your friend called them out? Could be narcolepsy, could be a number of things.

Didnt call the vet on either occasion - the first was put down to him just slipping in the box - but with this incident was wondering if it was more sinister - Was puzzeled by the rapid and visible heart beat. May well get vet but was just trying to get some feedback first. Thanks
