Does this sound worth it? Lorry query

I'm going to see a VW LT35 3.5t box tomorrow, E reg, 67,000 miles, Horsemaster conversion, 2 horse, side ramp. It looks tatty (but then so do I!) but the woman, who's 70-ish and whose horse is retiring so genuine reason, says it's reliable, floor sound, service history etc. It's apparently a nice drive and it can be MOT'd rather than plated. Year's MOT, no tax.

Based on just those facts - and obviously I'm taking someone who can advise on the mechanical/soundness side - do you think it might be worth the £2,300 she's asking...? any opinions gratefully received!
 
Possibly......I sold a D regd 6.5ton Renault Dodge two horse horse box last year for £3.25K. It had a genuine 75K miles (had owned it for 20 years), 11 months test and 6 months tax; had basic day living and had been well maintained. It was the paint job that was letting it down....flaking, not rust. It went to an old farmer guy who appreciated the basic nature of the Perkins tractor engine that it had........no finesse, but ****** all to go wrong with it! :D

At the end of the day, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
 
It certainly sounds like a fair price. I had been looking recently and settled on a trailer but the VW 3.5's I had seen advertised were not as low as £2300. Neither did I see one with such low mileage as most were 100K +.
Hopefully it will just be a cosmetic tidy up but taking someone with you to check for rust etc is wise.
 
Good lord yes, a reasonable price...especially if it has Ono next to it!

Where is it? Just in case you don't want it.... :)

I own an LT35 a little bit younger & cost a little bit more but I've never regretted buying it for a moment. It recently flew its MOT without a single advisory, even the stickiest of travellers travels well in it....1 of mine has gone from taking 2 hours to load to practically loading himself.
It's as slow as hell but gets me there.
They don't tend to have a huge payload - thats what makes them such a stable ride for the horse.

Last year at shows I got several people asking to buy my horsebox so I should imagine it would be easy to move on if not what you want :)
 
I got it for £2300! Couldn't complete payment - PayPal on phone not working, so got to go back and get it, grrr - but left deposit and will have it next weekend! Only drawback is it's petrol not diesel but she said it's not too juicy so fingers crossed :)

WOW you did well, I couldn't give my E reg Dodge away 18 months ago - same as yours good condition, basic living, well maintained and as you said flaky paint - eventually got 1k - just because the buyer wanted the Perkins engine :)

As a fellow 3.5t owner I can reliably inform you that you will use it for everything ! Mine has been used a furniture removal van loads of times. I've even used it to go the supermarket on several occasions to give it a run if I've not needed it horse wise for a few weeks ;)
 
Sure I'll be the same. Having had a 7.5t unreliable nightmare before, this was so nice to drive; I kept forgetting myself and going a bit fast, just lucky there wasn't a horse in the back...!
