Is there such a thing as a lite or no fill turnout rug that has a high denier (ideally 1500 or above)? Don't need neck cover

I can find lightweight rugs with 600 denier or heavy or medium weight rugs with 1680 denier.

I have learnt from experience that one of my horses is very good at ripping rugs of other horses that are not at least 1500 denier. It is pointless to buy the standard denier rugs as I am lucky if they last a day so gets rather expensive! One of my horses has a vast array of rugs with many repairs!

Looking for this rug for an extremely good doer 2 year old year old who will live our 24/7 for as long as possible and I will try not to rug him unless I have to but I am being realistic as in Scotland....

I know its not a no fill rug but 40g really isnt very much extra
 
I was going to suggest that one too - and you'll probably want a little fill over the depths of a scottish winter as I find no fills aren't particularly waterproof!
 
The premier equine 40g or 70g one would be good.

Alternatively I have removed the lining and filling from a heavyweight that was ripped beyond repair and now use the outer as a rain sheet. It is more waterproof than a normal rain sheet.

Worth considering as had been perusing their new catalogue but I am not really sure if I want to spend £150 on a rug he will outgrow as well. :)

This lad came through last winter exceptionally well. All the other horses lost weight and looked quite trim especially with the late spring except this youngster who looked very well. I would rather he came out of the winter on the lean side to help me manage his weight rest of the year! I agree with you about that a little fill seems to help absorb some of the moisture so they seem more waterproof

Good tip! I like PE rugs and don't mind spending £ on a decent rug but not when there are still growing. :)

Ruggles do a 1200D LW To. Really good fit and has foxed my particularly dedixcated rug-ripping TB! Not very pricey either. These were the first rugs i bought off them and given the quality, I would definately buy from them again. They are almost like the old FAL rugs. And no, I don't work for them!
