Just out of interest because I had a McTimoney practitioner out to see Maiden today and neither I nor Maiden were overly impressed... does your horse have his/her own "team" of specialists to pander to his/her every need?! My horse has a specific vet at the practice who knows her inside out after only a year. There's then the farrier (wouldn't swap him for the world), dentist (he's fantastic, so calm and quiet and always tells me what he's doing and why), saddler (again always tells me what he's doing and knows my horse's back and her saddles inside out), and my usual physio I have for my horses who I shall be using next time I need her, as opposed to the McTimoney lady I had out today. I also have a local accupuncturist who I think does her job very well and is also willing to share her knowledge with owners, and I wouldn't hesitate to call her rather than someone else even though I've never had her to see one of my horses yet. I suppose you could also say that I have my two intructors, one specifically for me and one who teaches both of us. Feeding is a bit hit-and-miss but Maiden lives on fresh air so that's not so much of a problem!
So my horse seems to have her own little "team" of professionals, and me as head slave

Do you just use whoever or are you particular about who lays their hands on your precious equine?

I've never thought of it like that before but yes, my horses do have a 'team'! Same vet, farrier, saddle fitter and dentist. I hate it if I can't get my regular vet because he knows my oldster so well, he gives him 'old man checks' and he can tell exactly how he is getting on. Same with the farrier.

I have the same vet, He has to come 20 miles, but he's the only one that is good with my pony and tells me in straight talking plain English! Had the same farrier for 4 years, have changed dentists only because regular one is so busy.

same vet, as its a one man band, same farrier, as he does all the horses on the yard, and same mctimoneuy person, as came recommended on here, does a good job, forgot saddler! have the same one as well, only been to horse couple of times, but he knows his stuff!!!

I have 2 Vets from the same practice that I trust with my life (and my horse's

) .... for about 15 years now ...

.... and had the same Farrier for all the 17 years that I have had my old boy .... Farrier is a bit of a handful but at the end of the day I will stay with him til the end ..... he has a looooooooooooooovery apprentice as well

Same dentist for them all, Oakham vets, [have known neil longest as he used to be at gibsons me believes], Julie roark back lady - knows chester inside out.
And have had same farrier for nearly nine years - to the point we went to his wedding reception!

Same Vet (one man band and very local!) same farrier, same EDT, mainly same saddler, though not that loyal to him! And will have no qualms using the same Osteo I have today

No, I have a different vet every time...they ask me about her history (usually colic). I tell them, and reassure them that she just needs Buscopan and will be fine.
They then charge me for the examination that they didn't bother doing - how does that work?!

Yep, we have a very extensive team actually!! The usual, farrier, vet (i use one practise but trust whoever they send), back person (me!!), 2 trainers, groom (my best mate), driver (my OH), psychologist (as i suffer from nerves) as well as the team at the yard that turn out/bring in etc etc....

Sometimes i feel like im very important!! Its nice to have a good team though, when you find good people they are worth keeping hold of.

I'd be interested in why you werent impressed with the McTimoney person that came out...PM me if you wish.

My ponies team is me (general slave to his every whim),
my mum (she who drives the lorry and pays for everything),
my sister (she who sorts out my nerves and organises the lorry so i can find what i want, also chief pony holder at shows).
My brother (chief mucker outer as i have a bad back).
We have the same vet every time (only seen her for vaccines for the last 3 years though),
EDT is the same everytime (should get danger money),
same saddler (saint of a man who comes up every 6 months),
same physio for him every time (Doesnt see her much though),
my chiropractor (so that my back is strong enough to actualy ride, i see her twice a week every week),
even same guy who poo picks and tops the docks for pony (has a cool machine that poo picks, so i pay him £25 every 3 weeks to poo pick the field and he tops it when ever it needs doing).
Same Haylege supplier (local farmer whos wife has horses makes, sells and delivers all our haylege).
Same lady who exercises him when my back just wont take it.
My dad (he who occasionaly drives the lorry and winges alot about costs but can be found feeding pony carrots at 2am when he cant sleep, so chief titbit supplier and midnight checker when he is home)

My yard has a team, we all use the same vet, farrier, dentist, saddle fitter, physio.... we are allowed others if we want but everyones happy with the ones we've got. They all know all the horses really well and often check up on them for free when they come to see another horse.

My lad has the same vet, farrier, dentist, back person and saddler as well as a very kind auntie for babysitting duties.
