My TB always licks his legs, when he returns from a ride where he has ridden through clay .... why does he do it and how does he know it is there????

Today I cleaned out his water trough and he came over to investigate, only to start licking the sides of the trough

Mine likes to lick the grease off the drop down saddle rack thing which is attached to the wall where I tie her up when its down. I think there is no grease left on it so she hasnt bothered with it for a while.

Aha so I dont have to be paranoid Drifter licks mud goes straight for it and often takes bites of it!!

Someone frightened me saying it was a sign of colic.

Wonka used to lick windows - I'm being serious! When I put him back in his stable you could see where he'd licked the windows of Orange's stable

He also licked people.

Bailey is my second licker and goes for anything really; including licking dogs and his fieldmate who licks him back. It is quite sweet when they lick each other on the nose

They are blatantly gay though!
