you don't visit for a while?
My horse is on full livery. He gets top class care, turnout every day, ad-lib forage etc, etc. However I have not been along there for 1 week (which is very very unusual for me, I am normally there pretty much every day of the week). He is being a real moody horse now........which always seems to happen if I am absent for more than a couple of days. I normally only exercise 2-3 time/week at the mo anyway.

He obviously needs Parelli.

yes, my older mare gets really moody if I dont go up for a day or so, for instance, if I go away for the weekend.

She just turns her back on me and completely ignores me - she comes arounbd thought after a couple of hours....funny things arn't they LOL

Mines a bit like that. He gets really sulky if ive not been up and is a git to ride even though he gets plenty of exercise regardless (not a too much energy git... more a "nar nar im not listeniiiiiing cos you didnt come to seeee meeeee"git
tongue.gif
)

He also gets incredibly grumpy if he thinks another horse is getting his attention. I went in to straighten his neighbours stable rug on christmas day and he was convinced she was getting his carrots

LOL - mine gets stroppy also if I go and see to another horse - she stands biting the air -moody old biddy she is

.

Also, if I stroke another horse and she is looking at me, she stamps her feet and puts her ears back. She sounds nasty, but not at all to humans, she's lovely

Yea mines very much a people horse and a complete mummy's boy at that. He goes into stallion mode and stands tossing his head around and stamping one front foot. Then does his butter wouldnt melt look when i walk back over to him

God knows what will happen if i ever get another

Have you tried bouncing a rubber ball on your horse's head? The concussion may keep him quiet for the few days until you take your responsibilities as an owner seriously again?
Just trying to be helpful.

Shilasdair you are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO naughty!!!!

I always take my responsibilities as an owner seriously! This is the one time in the yr I can't get to the yard virtually every day in the week (and I am FULL livery!)

The ball idea sounds good, I'll get YO to give it a good old go tomorrow. (Tongue in cheek to all the people who take everything literaly)

My pony pulls faces if I stroke another horse. She also attacked one of the Great Danes who live at the yard last week because I stroked it. She is a real Mummy's girl and gets v jealous.

No, mine doesn't give a s*it!

I think he likes me though cos he gets to do fun stuff when i ride him and I feed him Chocolate biscuits!

hard to say...

my naglet gets stressy if i don't visit him for a couple of days (mum mucks out and rides if i can't bcos of school stuff), but then he gets stressy if he isn't ridden every day, if he gets fed anything apart from chaff, if he has to be bought in early due to bad weather... like i said, hard to say

i dont know if mine misses me as such but she will stand in her stable in the morning watching all the goings on and the minute she sees me walk onto the yard she starts kicking hell out of her door! YO said to me the other day she only does that when she sees you.

Don't think mine miss me when I go on holiday, but the rest of the time they see me twice a day every day of the year so perhaps they enjoy the break of not seeing me!!!

If I'm not around for a bit, i.e go on hols for a few days, then when I go to see them, sometimes Star will sulk with me, or sometimes she will be extra keen to see me and a bit clingy not wanting me to walk away from her.

It really depends on her hormones

Be is aways the same when I visit - just cute, bouncy and pleased for any attention.

'Mummy's boy ' is the exact word tiera. Mine is really funny and prefers me to handle him, even though he's always been on full livery (diff yards) so frequently saw more of the grooms than me - and they fed him! . He's fine to come in from the field and simple things with anyone but for things like vet, teeth or feet he gets upset if I'm not there. If I have to leave his side for any reason (e.g to get my chequebook) he grows about another 8 inches (height!!!! what are you thinking

) standing tall trying to look round and find me. He's also wonderful at embaressing really good riders. The better they are the worse he is. He would never ever buck or rear, but he's VERY sensitive to weight aids and will often keep trying shoulder-in, traverse etc as he is tense and worried and trying to please in his own odd way. He also has this most rediculous strange tense movement you ever saw. If they smack or kick him he gets very upset and I would never let anyone have that sort of fight with him. If I am watching someone ride him he will nap every time he passes me. A novice rider that sits very still and asks little on the other hand he will take care, though the resemblance to a large seaside donkey is remarkable. However as he's spookey I can't really put inexperienced people on him. He's getting good with the YO to ride as he's on full livery and knows her AND she's a wonderful, very sympathetic rider but great feeling and tough at the right times. He still naps a lot with her, particularly if I am there though usually after telling me hjow good he was the last time she rode him. Funny as he has NEVER napped with me except when his saddle was sore.

or sure how I would ever get him sold but I hope I never have to as I love him dearly with all his eccentricities - and its nice to know that he really does care that he is owned with me in particular and not just that he has a good home. There's noting to beat seeing him cnter to me to be caught even though he knows he's coming in to work not be fed
