My old mare has this trick which she always tries on anyone new and occasionally me. She "accidentally" steps on my foot and then brings her head down to my eye level and waits for my reaction. If I make a fuss or any sign of discomfort she puts more weight on it while keeping eye contact. If I just say "Again Bell? Oh well off you get" and gently push her over really really calmly she backs off really disgruntled.

Does anyone else's horse seem to test you?

Yes . . . Kal thinks it's a great game to twang the waistband of my jods or pull at my shirt when I'm leading him . . . I know he's looking for a reaction . . . makes me smile.

Yes, quite opinionated today out hacking when she decided it was time to go home, cue spinning, bunny hopping and tossing her head about (thankfully on an empty bridle path). She got a couple of boots, a sharp smack and told to get over herself and get along! Hack continued as normal. I think she does it to test her boundaries and see if I will give in.
