I'm hoping the forum users can save me hours of trawling the Internet and looking for rugs. I really want the rug to have nylon lining and most seem to be cotton these days. Trouble with that is it pulls back when my mare is clipped.

If you have a rug that in nylon lined could you let me know the brand name, type and weight please.

I have knightrider ones at the moment and a few mark todds. I really like the nylon lining. And the front clips are quick release trigger clips so even better!!

Thanks for the name suggestions. Not really seen the gfs rugs so will look at them. I thought all horseware were nylon lined but when I looked at the rhino plus in the Saddlry its cotton. :-/

My Weatherbeetas and Shires have silky linings. Think the Amigos do too, but not sure without checking. OH's Premier Equine ones do too I think....

I doubt its much use to you but may be to someone.... If you need an under rug I bought a cheap (£19) nylon stable rug with polycotton lining, removed surcingles, straps etc and made a velcro fastening for the chest so reversed makes a good under rug with a nylon inner and polycotton outer

But then my pony takes a 4ft rug so my under rug options were a bit limited!

I only use nylon lined rugs, can't stand the cotton or even worse cotton/polyester mix, always snag the coat and slip back IME.I accidentally bought two lightweights with cotton lining (Mark Todd and a saxon, which i always thought had nylon lining but apparently not!!),and will be selling them come spring without even trying them on,as I know I will hate them:o

All horseware rugs are nylon lined (just purchased a rambo duo second hand and would highly recommend BTW),premier equine are I believe nylon lined and the older weatherbeeta landa range are nylon lined (i have a couple of these fab rugs).I *think* some of the shires rugs are nylon lined, but never had any so not certain.

There are some non branded ones on ebay that I asked a question about and said they were a sort of satin lining that was like nylon, but I decided to go for branded second hand in the end,but might be worth a look??

what a great idea - I'll be trying this with my 'chilly mortal'. Thanks

Have you thought about using an Amigo Mio Stable sheet? They're just a nylony summer sheet so you could just put it on the bottom next to the horse and then if you have a rug that doesn't have nylon lining you would get the same effect as if it did and you get the added bonus of being able to wash it!!

I can't say I've ever had a rug with cotton lining but I would associate this fabric more with summer sheets etc., as cotton is a 'cool' material, ie it does not have good insulation properties. I would therefore not expect to find a cotton lining on a winter turnout. I have Horseware rugs: Rhino rain sheet, Amigo medium and Rambo Heavy all of which have nylon lining. I also have a heavy Weatherbeeta Taka which has a lovely soft fleece lining. Hope that helps.

All my Amigos are nylon lined. Would not be parted from them because apart from the lack of rubbing they shine the coat a treat!

Yup. I loved taking the Amigo off Obi and seeing him all shiny and nice :D

I've recently updated to a Prem Equine rug that is indoor/outdoor.

A lining that groomed was part of the selection process :).

Oh yes, the first time I saw the nylon lined rugs I thought they looked liked like a pair of cheap knickers, but they have their uses.. Nylon lined rugs that is, not cheap knickers.
