Just wondered if anyone else has an invisibility function on their trailer/lorry???!!!

Think I certainly must have because everytime I'm towing everyone seems to look, see me (or not if the invisibility is enabled!) then still cross road or pull out!! Drives me mad!!!!! I'm not going to be doing 20mph in a 60 zone - numpties!!! :D

Ps - just for the record - I'm not a crazy idiot , im very careful when towing - so its not like I'm doing 60mph!!! :) :) !!

we have that as well but the worst thing for us is the idiots we meet on narrow roads, 2 cars can pass with ease but put a IW510 on the back of a tow vehicle and it's wide!

we were towing yesterday and the number of people that came towards us 'shooing' us over because they couldn't fit through, for some reason they think that the tow vehicle can be flush to the edge even though it's about a foot (either side) narrower than the trailer.
surely if they can see the trailer poking out from the side of the vehicle on the drivers side then they should realise that it would be the same on the passenger side!

You're not alone! As well as invisability when we approach junctions and roundabouts, recently we also seem to be towing a 'I hate you all' poster - que cutting in causing us to slam the breaks on to avoid going into the idiot driver, cutting in is also accompanied by descriptive hand gestures! Honestly, what is wrong with people!!

Its not only the ones that shoo you over how about the ones that expect you to reverse for them as well, which we do on occasion do for some people if we know its miles back to the next passing point but if i know its only a few feet behind them there isnt a chance of us doing it....my otherhalf just turns the jeep off & sits there & waits, they soon get the hint when he gets the paper out & starts reading. Have to admit the locals are great round here, it seems to be holiday makers who we seem to have the most problem with.

Yep my 7.5ton lorry is invisible - some old folks pulled out right in front of people the other week (fortunately not with horse on board) causing me to swerve and brake madly.

I think I might get an air horn, as my pathetic horn can barely be heard.

Oh and they then proceeded to travel at 45mph, holding me up - coffin dodgers really should be retested....

I don't really have this problem, everyone seems to be really nice where we drive, but that could be because I'm a volvo driver and they be able to sense that I may just drive over the top of them!!! I have also been known to do as someone above says, turn off the engine and start reading

Tbh, I have this issue when I'm driving a car, too! People seem to look both ways, think 'is anything coming? Yes. Good. Let's pull out anyway.'

Winds me up!

^^^ this - reversing a loaded trailer - particularly uphill can be hazardous, not to mention uncomfortable for the horse.

We lie in a single track road, so if they DON'T reverse then I do! (Helps that I love practising reversing) Mindyou, it takes me twice as long as if they had reversed, especially as all too often they only drove 30ft beyond the pull in whereas I have to back half a mile or so, but I figure they're happy to wait if they don't want to reverse.

I was towing recently, two horses on board, and met a combine harvester on a single track lane. Cue minor (well major) panic and thoughts of asking the combine driver to reverse for me! However after a deep breath and note to self to stop being wimpy I managed to reverse about 100 yards round a bend into a gateway. My heart was really racing but I was very pleased with myself!

It's not often I go backwards for another vehicle, but really didn't think I could expect the combine to reverse for me!

I had road rage with two cyclists that pulled out in front of my 7.5t lorry (after looking) when I had 2 horses on board. Grrrrr Then proceeded to ride in front of me going around the drains and lumps in the road for 15mins and I got to stare at their fat bums in squeezed into their lycra shorts

dont seem to have a problem when towing but definately invisible in my car. Have decided that my V5 should read 'invisible green' next to the bit about colour. :(

Not a problem I have driving (although I haven't started towing....yet) but I do turn invisible when I'm shopping. I'm considering dressing up in full goth attire along with big boots and piercings next time I have to do battle on busy pavements.

Its odd but I'm defo not invisible in my little 3.5 tonner which is small enough to park at Tescos BUT my Kia Sorrento which is HUGE seems to have one of those Harry Potter cloak things on it as people do keep on driving at me in the centre of the road. Also same with my hubby's legacy which some muppet took the wing mirror off....or perhaps its me....

Lol. I used to be invisible, but now I'm my freelander the case is different. Lol.
Or maybe I just don't notice it anymore being in such a big car lol.
Although had noticed instantly That I no longer get thank you's when I let people out etc.

I think it's the 'Oh no it's a horsebox/trailer it'll go slowly must pull out in front of it' syndrome.

On the reversing thing though - when riding it always irritates me when people stop literally just past a passing place (as in, I can see it!), and expect me to turn around and ride for half a mile back the way I came to let them past. Seriously, if you can't back 3ft on a flat road, should you be driving? I'm happy to turn around usually and trot so they don't have to wait so long, but it's a bit much when I can see the passing place! Tend to walk in that situation - as someone else said, if they don't want to back, they must be happy to wait!
