saturday a large husky came into our field and started to attack two of the 5 horses grazing there.
the owner had sent her young son to catch the dog but obviously his size and age were against him and eventually our farrier (who was fortunately there) caught him, put a lead rope on him, and sent the boy off with a flea in his ear.
later i found out where the dog lived and was informed the dog has attacked on more than one occasion!
i called the police who told me they couldnt do anything and i should call the dog warden, which i have now done.
i also printed off a copy of the dangerous dogs act, high lighted the section on dogs and livestock and shoved it though her door as she wouldnt answer it!
but is there anything more i can do?

4 weeks ago my freind was riding my horse on ockham common surrey when a large dog snapped at the back of him,he took off through the trees knocking her off and she injured her shoulder and and back, and ended up in hospital,i have my phone number on a disc on his bridle and i got a call from a very nice lady who had found him,all was sorted but the person with the dog left the scene hastely,i have a dog and i always keep her by me when horse's are around as you never know what will happen

i think the problem is going to be bigger than they realise. having just googled dog attacks, there are many recent incident's that are documented by the local media's. what is worrying is that these are serious attacks, so how many more go unreported?
2 days on and my welsh filly is still jumpy and nervous in the field, goodness knows how long it will take for her to forget the fright she has had!

If it comes into your yard again, catch it and lock it up in a stable and then call the dog warden to remove it (I'm not suggesting you remove it's identity tag or anything first though...)
