which beds do you all recommend ? We have a lovely golden retriever, who refuses to use his bog standard plastic bed, which is lined with a lovely comfy dog mattress. He spends his time humping the mattress, as opposed to sleeping in it. He chooses to lie on the floor, or on my new settee, which isn't a good move .

Ive seen some memory foam ones, are they any good ? Thanks

Memory foam will end up stinking unless is has a waterproof cover on it. I have memory foam pads with waterproof covers on, with vet bed/thermatex pads on top-and a tuffies XL with a washable cover and the couch as my retriever likes a cuddle ;)

I have a Tuffies XL I made some washable cheapo covers ( bought some cheap fleece and made them into big pillowslip type covers) for it so that it can be kept sweet. Then I broke down a pallet and made a base to put it on. Whippets love it and I love the fact it is totally washable and almost indestructible.

I've got a golden retriever and have an assortment of large comfy beds from Homesense/tk maxx. 90% of the time she prefers to sleep on the tile floor or the rug by the fire...

Beds don't last in this house, they will find the only possible loose thread and then it's game over for the bed!!

My lot get fleece blankets now £2.99 from B&M bargains, they have a few each and they can arrange them however the like and they are quick and easy to wash / dry

I have a selection - two Coolaroo (which are the cheaper version of HiK9), two memory foams (with replacement covers so they can be washed) and various bits of vet bed.

My friend bought some uber expensivo beds from Orvis and I covet them - they are truly gorgeous, but at £250 each I just can't justify that price.

I have a second hand cot mattress from preloved, with fitted sheets to cover it. OH calls it 'Banged Up Abroad' but the dogs love it, would definately get more. It fits two labs.

Nice and comfy, extra memory foam mattress on top of orthopaedic base

Or hard wearing but supportive and comfy Tuffie, can be hosed.

That's what I afraid of ! he loves to move between carpet, tiles and the new settee ( when no ones looking, we just find his fluff) The bed could be an ornament

Ahh, that's the sort ive been contemplating ( the top one, to try and replicate the feel of the settee) Where did you get that one ? Was it expensive? Cheers

Love the middle photo, mine sleeps like that too:o

I am interested to see how smart CT's sofa type memory foam bed is. I bought one at the same time. Sadly my dogs dug it up, they scrabbled the top velcoed cover and the underlying marerial is very thin and ripped, then the memory foam digs up easily. Just a warning, my daughter has one for her lurcher that is fine. It comes from Zooplus

I buy cheap nest beds from tk max and line them with washable fleece blankets.
I have looked at the nest tuffy beds but I feel the advantage of the cheaper bed is firstly that it is well, cheaper, and also that the softer sides means she can curl up and feel safe and enclosed but if she wants to stretch out then it is easy as the sides are soft and collapse so she can stretch out.

We have a Tuffie bed, but to be honest, my two prefer the two secondhand duvets I put down for them. I made a fleece cover for the one in the living room, to match the decor!

Tuffies are *amazing*. Scrubbable, hoseable, my 3 Rotties have 2 between them & they have not been chewed *at all*, not even by puppy!

Moulded plastic beds and layers of vetbed - washes and dries really fast. If your dog prefers a hard surface, one layer might suit, otherwise use more than one.

The cot mattress is no more. Came home from work and Pen had been left for a whole hour...bed stuffing everywhere. Looks like she had a good time though. The older two are appalled.

Top picture, the bed is indeed Zooplus. I've added memory foam on top. Middle bed is from TK Maxx, seen nothing similar in there ever since. My lot aren't destructive. At the max, Zak might try to bring the bed as my welcome home gift.

I also have the Zooplus one and it's been sibe proof so far. I do stick a puppy pad between the velcro fleece bit and the mattress as I have a leaker.

I caught them both on it recently, exceedingly rare!

Has Pen been reading this thread and seen the chesterfield ones ?

perfect, a bed that encourages them to use it, got to be worth a try

Quite possibly. I have just put a new cot sheet on and am hoping she will forget the gaping pothole underneath. Love the Chesterfields but could not spend more on a dog bed than my own bed!

I use the plastic moulded beds (wipe clean) and the use cheap pillows (Argos do a pair for 2.99) and just replace them every couple of months when they get smelly or really grubby looking, especially if we have people coming over lol!. Dogs, and cat, seem very happy in them. I used to use the nice soft beds which are fleecey all over, but was afraid of wrecking my washing machine with all the hair that came off them.
