Our 4.5 month old puppy is digging large holes in the lawn, he is a husky so they are known to dig. We do accept that this will happen but if there is a way of improving it so we have some lawn left that would be great.
Is there anyway of teaching them not to or has anyone been able to teach them the dig in a specific area?
Could we set up an area where he can dig or is that too confusing and its better to discourage it all together? I think people may have used sand pits?
Are we destined to have a garden resembling the moon?
Our older husky only used to dig the boarders so it wasn’t such an issue and he seems to have grown out of it.
Thanks

Oh poor you. I know nothing specifically about huskies but SO many puppies will dig given half a chance. I discouraged mine from any garden digging and if I found a hole somewhere I would put a small wire temporary fence around it till it recovered.
Maybe the pup cannot be left to his own devices in the garden and you must distract and entertain in other ways. My dogs will often enjoy digging in molehills etc on a walk so they are not deprived!
