Dog eating rabbit with Mixy

This may sound a daft question but my beagle ate half a dead rabbit yesterday which I think died of myxomatosis (sp)! She is a bit under the weather today and I wanted to check to see if anyone knows if this rabbits disease can be passed onto dogs or if she has just got an upset stomach from eating a raw rabbit!!!

I don't THINK it can be passed on to dogs, but I sure would want to call a vet to be sure!
She could be under the weather though because the meat was already spoiled. Still call the vet, it costs just the call and that's it.

Your dog will not suffer in the slightest. Mixy is only specific to rabbits and she will not contract the disease.

Exactly no mixy problem.

Not only this but raw and old whiffy meat is absolutely the right thing for a dog to be eating, even raw bones, they are fine too. She prob just finding the diet change a bit of a gut issue!

Completely agree! My dalamtian has eaten really lovely things like two week old cow placenta (I was nearly sick myself when I found him doing that!) and been absolutely fine. Foxes eat bunnies with myxi all the time and they never seem to decrease in number when this disease is doing the rounds....

i would not worry too much.probably just got a bit of a dicky tummy though.

my cousins jr is always catching and eating them and he is fine although if he is caught with one it gets taken away!
