Dog falling over?

our old retriever (photograph further down this page) has apparantly been falling over on her side today, but otherwise normal, as in happy, wagging tail, just falling over.
(I'm not at home and have suggested the vet...)
Any thoughts?
I'm wondering if an ear infection might cause this? She has got progressively deafer over the last while, could there be a link?
Obviously she's old..14ish, but :S

Could be an ear infection, vertigo sort of thing. Do her eyes dart quickly from side to side and has she been sick at all? My old Spaniel used to get this now and again when she was very old.

If she is still falling over tomorrow, then I would defo get the vet to take a look as it must be distressing for her. Hope it's nothing too serious x

Ear infections can cause damage in the ear itself and lead to balance issues .....definately bring her to the vet 2moro because sometimes the damage can be permanent...hope its not to serious

Ear or neurological (may have had a stroke) but either way I think you need a vet to have a look and help out.
