Hi all,
I was hoping to pick the brains of those much more knowledgable than me on this subject please
Has anyone come across Gelert Natural Choice? I was just hoping for any thoughts on it - I've searched this and the dog food analysis sites, but can't find any more info than on their own website.
It is marketed as hypo-allergenic (no wheat gluten, colours etc) and a 'premuim nutrition' brand. Tesco are stocking the dry feed at just over £3 for 2kg, which seems cheap to me.
The ingredients listed on the 2kg bag:
Rice (min. 25%)
Chicken meal (min. 20%)
maize
barley
chicken oil
beet pulp
dried brewers yeast
whole linseed
seaweed
vitamins & minerals
Mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS)
glucosamine & chrondroitin
EC approved anti-oxidants - tocopheral rich extracts of natural origin (Vitamin E).
Does anyone know what MOS is? Or is there anything else in this list you'd be avoiding?
I am looking for our collie, who was a rescue, with a rather delicate tummy & prone to very itchy skin. She can also get rather stiff, which is why the chrondroitin/glucosamine appealed (although it doesn't specify the level, so may well be neglible in reality).
I have fed brewer's yeast/linseed/seaweed to horses in the past and have been pleased with the results, but again the levels are not specified on the bag.
Basically, I am looking for a feed with minimum potential to irritate her skin/stomach, and at the best value possible.
Any thoughts would be very appreciated
