My little pup in now 6 weeks old, will be 7 weeks on Thursday, so i'll be off to pick her up from her mum next Thursday!, I'm so excited! eeeeeeek :D
But it's also time to think about what food I should be feeding her.
She is a toy poodle, 5 generation pedigree, all family tested and are PRA clear.
Anyway, I have a miniature poodle at the moment, 10 years old, she is fed Collards Senior dry food. The food seems to agree with her, she looks well, her coat is nice, her weight doesn't yoyo, she's very active and happy for a 10 year old dog, and doesn't have digestion problems (no excessive farting, and poops are great). And most importantly, she actually eats it and isn't fussy with it, which in this dogs case was a battle of its own kind, trying to find something that is good for her and she will actually eat!

The new pup however, I have a clean slate to start with so can introduce her to a food that is best for her which is what i'd like to do. She will be a pet, maybe do some agility and obedience once she's older.

What food would you all recommend for a toy breed?

Cheeky picture, Roux at 6 weeks old :)

Eden holistic food is a very good quality food. We have switched all our onto in including a 12 year old JRT who has had wet food all her life, a fussy Yorkie abd 2 chihuahua puppies.

She's not coming home at 7weeks, she's 7 weeks this Thursday, so I'm picking her up at 8 weeks next Thursday :)
I'm looking at general recommendations to see what's best, then I can pick what suits best price wise

Just stopped feeding raw after several years as i cant be doing with it any more. My guys are doing brilliantly on Eden and it is costing me 1/3, yes 1/3!! of the amount i was spending on raw!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i misread then. I feed wainwrights and my dogs are great on it but keep feeding her what the breeder is feeding for a good long time anyway.

She is absolutely adorable, i have had two toy poodles and they are amazing i would defintiely get one again. I love the name Roux too :D Good luck with her.

For small dogs I like Lily's Kitchen- expensive for a big dog but not too bad for a small dog and my papillon does very well on it plus I like that I know exactly what's in it and its all high quality ingredients.

If I had a little dog, Applaws for wet or Orijen for dry, no question, if I wasn't so stuck on raw! Have a look at the dry and wet food index sticky at the top of the board, very interesting.

Thank you everyone! :)
The breeder is feeding Iam's puppy food which I'm personally not too keen on, hence looking into changing it, obviously I will start off changing it very very slowly, but i'd like her to be on 'my' food by the end of this year.
I have heard that Orijen is good or apparently Acana small breed puppy range is also good. I will have to have a look what I can get for a good price either online or what's in shops around here as I need to be able to get it quickly if I suddenly find myself running out.
I'll have a look at the thread also, thank you everyone! :)

I feed raw, but applaws wet is pretty awesome. K9 Natural is great and more affordable for a little one. Orijen has a great reputation but mine did much better on fish4dogs, although I'm not convinced a fish only diet is good for them.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i misread then. I feed wainwrights and my dogs are great on it.

My JRT pup also started on Wainrights, he has now swapped over the Arden Grange as I found somewhere local that stocks it fairly cheaply. The older dog is on Dr John's Titanium and is doing well on that.
