can anyone recommend me a good quality but cheap dog food that has quite small size kibble. currently shes on harringtons and it quite suits her but apparently it isn't very good quality etc. h struggles if the food is too big, harringtons is perfect size but arden grange (which she had at home over christmas) was too big. people seem to mention skinners quite a lot but theres no mention about the size of the food! preferably between £20-25 inc P&P (no car) thanks in advance!

I dont know what breed your dog is, but i have a very small JRT (see my sig) and she manages just fine on skinners (duck and rice is about £19.50 at my local feed merchants for 15kg) I do add a bit of hot water sometimes (especially if its cold) and let it soak so its all soft,

Arden Grange do a 'mini' feed which has tiny kibble, I did try Millie on this which she loved, however when i got my lurcher i wanted to have them both on the same feed for ease and financial reasons, so swapped to skinners. Autarky is good too,

shes a terrier - staffie mix.the problem is more that i thing she may have a slight problem with her jaw (she is a rescue and we suspect she suffered a hammer to her head). when she eats she takes a mouthful, spits it out and then eats them if that makes sense. when she had the arden grange at my parents she was struggling to eat it.
problem with soaking it (i sometimes add gravy) if she doesnt it all straight away she wont eat it and its ruined!
id rather not put her on arden grange as can't afford to spend that much on food at the moment.
i might try a bag of the skinners then and see how she copes. do you know roughly in cm the kibble is?

raw isn't an option due to lack of storage for it.

That's a shame as raw is good for them but I know what you mean, when I started feeding it I used to share with 3 friends as we didn't have enough freezer space to have it all ourselves, I'd order it in they would pick up from me the day it arrived. In the end one pulled out and bought it directly herself so I got a huge upright freezer which I keep in my saddlery workshop, filled to the brim with raw meat, mince and bones.People come and buy bits and pieces off of me who like you, haven't got the space for storage and like to treat their dogs to the occasional lb of mince or a marrow bone etc.
Oz :)

We use Naturediet. It is based on natural principles and is moist and vacuum packed. Suits our lot very well and the love it! You can buy it on the internet, where it is very much cheaper than in the local shops

thanks guys just doing some research online to find out the best place to buy. I've emailed skinners and I'll see if they'll send me a sample.

Thanks for the advice red re burns. I might try skinners first for economical reasons but if not will definately look into that one more.

I have used Arden Grange for over 15 years for my dogs/puppies i have bred and have always been really pleased. although it is quite expensive it is very good quality - why dont you try Arden Grange Mini Adult Lamb and Rice. They sell Arden Grange where I work and they would be able to post it to you {they do a 2.5kg bag which would be ideal for you to try). Tel no is 01476 513840. Hope this is some help to you!
