Hi, Just wondering if any one can recommend a dog friendly place to stay. I have trawled all the websites but can't find anything suitable! We have five dogs, looking for somewhere in Devon/Cornwall area. I have found Helsbury park which looks amazing but way out of our budget!!

We go to a lovely place in Whitby for a few days a year but looking for a longer holiday down south!

Thanks in advance :-)

Try Falmouth. Spent a weekend down there with my partner & our 2 pooches. Everywhere is welcoming of dogs including shops & pubs & there are lots of guest places that will accommodate too.

I have found that asking the owners of cottages which will take three dogs whether they would allow you to bring another one or two will often work. I have also contacted the agencies directly to ask them to find me something. Have a look at 'petholidayfinder' too. As you have found out the places which officially accept lots of dogs are large and very expensive most of the time unfortunately. Best of luck.

I can recommend a place called bed and basket (google it) wonderful self catered converted barns designed with dog owners in mind. We spent a week there and it along with the walks in surrounding areas was just absolutely fantastic!

Little Dumpledale in Pembrokeshire. http://www.littledumpledale.co.uk/ Totally dog friendly but not quite in the same league as Helsbury where I have been going for ten years plus. Gobsmacked that they have now handed the booking over to a holiday company; David & Leza always used to advertise a £200 discount for single bedroom occupancy, but when I rang to make a booking this weekend the new company didn't know anything about this or maybe just played dumb. :(

Polperro in Cornwall is incredibly dog friendly - all the pubs let them in and make a fuss of them (one has an antique 'dog chair'), and some of the restaurants too. Holiday Cottages Polperro have quite a few dog friendly cottages. Great walks along the coastal paths, and boat trips (dog friendly) from the harbour too.
