One of our dogs always goes off her food at this time of year. She is 3 1/2yr old and we have had her since a pup, she has always had the same dry food.
She will mostly eat her dinner but hardly touches breakfast. She will eat it if human food is added (such as bread, gravy etc) but I don't like doing this as she will get used to eating it and then not eat her food at all unless human food is mixed in. And I don't want to give her tinned food.
I've tried giving her 3 smaller meals a day rather than the 2, but she won't eat the 2nd lot.
She is a very fit lurcher so needs to eat or she will start the lose weight she hasn't got to lose.
Any ideas?

Could it just be with the fireworks going off everywhere. I know my dog doesn't eat her tea at this time of year as she is too busy fretting with the bangs going off around her. Just a thought. x

The fireworks don't bother her and its lasts a couple of months.
She is on a working dog food at the moment do I try another brand of working dog food or something completely different?

Not proper work, but they are very fit and do run alot. It's the only thing we have found will keep the weight on them.

Split feeds into two, not only does it prevent bloat, it also keeps sugar levels on a more even keel than having one big high each day. If you must add something to her food, try natural yogurt, ready made gravy is too high in salt for dogs.

If she starts to drop weight, or always struggles to keep weight on, swop her onto a quality puppy food. Bear in mind that 'working dog' food doesn't general mean the food is suitable for hard working dogs - just that the food is VAT free!

How about something a bit meatier than dry, like NatureDiet?

Or a little warm water on her dry food might release the smell of it and make it more tempting?

I agree, it's never a good idea to pander to whims, it can make them too fussy.
